Southminster

Dad has made it to Southminster http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southminster. Been a long day on the bike today and he's probably clocked up 60 plus miles. The campsite I've found him in Southminster is good and Dad has a picnic table and a view of the lake. The site is huge and there's just one other tent on it! When he arrived they did ask if he'd booked in - it's not like it was busy!!

Today the weather has been mixed and he's had a couple of rain showers. The route took him from Thorpe-le-Soken to Walton on the Naze and through Frinton-on-the sea and into Clacton-on-sea. In fact he never noticed he'd through Frinton. There no signs no B&B's, no ice-cream sellers. Nothing. In fact it was like a place that time had forgot! From there it was onto Jaywick to look at the Austin Avenue and the "cheap" houses. He then headed onto Colchester where he met another cyclist who was visiting every football ground in the country and asking them to donate a football shirt. For those interested he can be found blogging http://theshirt2010.net/

From Colchester it was off on the B1026 to Abberton Reservoir and then into Maldon and the steep hill! Dad was back to bike/hiking it! From Maldon it was on the B1018 to Latchingdon and into Southminster.

Tonight's meal is chicken and duck (no it's not a windfall one!!!) but from a tin and sweetcorn! Today's windfalls have been blackberries, plums, apples and mushrooms! He also found some potatoes which he reckons must have fallen from a tractor.

Tomorrow he is heading off to Southend on Sea.
